In 1793, French trade and increasing French industrialization was a threat
to British trade and industrialization. Thus England and post Revolutionary
France war bound u in war for twenty years. Naval military action was focused
upon the Low Countries. In 1797, British Admiral Duncan decisively defeated
the Dutch navy at the battle of Camperdown. In the art above, six captured
Dutch Men of the Line are shown being brought into Yarmouth. Note the British
officer with his arm in sling.
